What to Expect

Dr. Hess DDS office

Our office is located right on US Highway 31 in Whiteland, IN. We’re on the east side of the road, practically in the backyard of Whiteland Community High School (by the way…go, Warriors! We love our local sports teams!). The closest intersection is US Highway 31 and Whiteland Road, and our exact address is 119 N. US Highway 31. Probably the first thing you’ll notice is our big blue and orange sign with a light-up LED screen.

We are just minutes from New Whiteland, Franklin, and Greenwood. We also have patients from Indianapolis, Bargersville, and Shelbyville.

You’ll be greeted by one of our friendly front office members and asked to fill out new patient paperwork. If you’d like, you can save time by downloading these forms below. As you wait, feel free to help yourself to a hot or cold beverage.

Unless you’re experiencing an emergency situation, your first visit will include a dental cleaning by one of our experienced dental hygienists, X rays, and an exam by Dr. Hess. Dr. Hess will screen for common dental problems and answer any questions you might have about your smile. Sometimes, simple procedures like a filling can be taken care of right then and there without having to schedule another appointment.

Please read more about our services if you have specific questions about the treatment Dr. Hess and his team provide.

Good question! Please visit our page on insurance and payment options for a list of the most common insurance types we accept, as well as information for self-pay patients. We will work with you to make any necessary dental work affordable.

For questions about co-pays or about insurance types not listed, please call our office at 317-535-5665.

Yes! Our parking lot is flat and there is a sidewalk ramp into the building. Please call ahead and let us know if you’d like extra assistance entering the building or if you have any other special requirements.

Absolutely. At home, Dr. Hess is surrounded by children and at his office it’s no different. Our waiting room has a toy section and we’re happy to put on a kid’s movie while you wait. Our hygienists are experienced in cleaning children’s teeth, and Dr. Hess spends extra time making sure our youngest patients are comfortable at the dentist’s office. He’ll even make you a balloon animal.

Occasionally, our office is not a good fit for a particular pediatric patient, or the patient needs treatment best provided by a pediatric dentist. In that case, we’ll refer you to a trusted specialist.

Remember: even if you don’t suspect any problems, a child should have his or her first visit to the dentist by one year old, or when the first tooth comes in, whichever is sooner. The first visits are all about making sure the child is comfortable at the dentist’s office. The sooner you start, the more likely dental care will be a positive experience for the child—and parent!
